Press Statement

November 23, 2014. KIGALI-RWANDA: The Rwanda National Police has arrested two members of LIPRODHOR; Daniel Uwimana and Evariste Nsabayezu, former vice President of the association, in an ongoing investigations linked to forging and use of counterfeit documents.

They were arrested on November 21 following a complaint filed by the Legal Representative of the association, and subsequent investigations.

Police Spokesperson Chief Supt. Celestin Twahirwa said: "Together with other associates, they allegedly forged signatures of other members of LIPRODHOR  in a bid to gather enough signatories to convene an extraordinary General Assembly, apparently meant to oust the association's current management."

"This is in contravention of articles 609 and 610 of the penal code," he added.

Investigations are still underway to apprehend all those connected to this alleged crime as case file compilation continues.

"People should go through legal channels to address their differences to reach their goals and prevent conflicts instead of wandering in illegal means where they will be arrested in one way or another," he said.
