Rwanda inaugurates regional cybercrime investigation centre

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuje, on Friday, October 6, inaugurated the hi-tech 'Regional Cybercrime Investigation Centre of Excellence', which will facilitate national and regional efforts against growing cyber threats.

The centre located at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters, Kacyiru was seconded by the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) to facilitate and coordinate law enforcement institutions to respond to cybercrime activities in the region.Read more

Security in Rwanda continues to improve - Minister Gasana

The Minister of Interior, Alfred Gasana said that the security situation in Rwanda has continued to improve and that ensuring safety and security of people in the country remains a top priority for law enforcement institutions to provide a crime-free and stable environment for sustainable development.

The Minister was speaking on Wednesday, October 4, during an interaction session that brought together Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) and journalists, held at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru.Read more

IGP Namuhoranye receives delegation from Qatar

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Felix Namuhoranye, on Thursday, October 5, received a delegation from the Ministry of Interior in Qatar, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters, Kacyiru.

The delegation was headed by Col. Khalid Ali H S Al - Kaabi, the head of International Relations in Qatar's Ministry of Interior.

Present was also HE Misfer Faisal Mubarak Al Ajab Al Shahwani, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Qatar to Rwanda.Read more 

DIGP Ujeneza attends Interpol regional conference in Angola 

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza headed a team of Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) officers, to Luanda, Angola where they attended the 26th Interpol African Regional Conference.

The three-day conference brought together 160 senior law enforcement officials to discuss challenges, reassess strategies and reaffirm their cooperation as a region in responding to security threats facing the African continent.Read more

Rwandan Police peacekeepers in South Sudan plant trees to protect environment

Rwandan Police peacekeepers deployed in Malakal, Upper Nile State under UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), on Friday, October 6, conducted a tree planting exercise as part of their environmental protection drive.

The exercise were attended by UNMISS officials, peacekeepers from other contributing countries and South Sudanese.

Trees were planted around the Protection of Civilian (PoC) camp, which is under the protection of Rwanda Formed Police Unit-One (RWAFPU-1). Read more

RNP, RIB hold joint management meeting to enhance partnership

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) held a joint management meeting on Wednesday, October 4, to strengthen partnership in matters of security and justice.

The Minister of Interior, Alfred Gasana, while opening the meeting, at the RNP General Headquarters, said that the two institutions have a lot in common in the field of security and justice.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Emmanuel Ugirashebuje, while closing the meeting, emphasized that close collaboration between the police and RIB guarantees the best services required by Rwandans.Read more
