RNP, RIB hold joint management meeting to enhance partnership

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) held a joint management meeting on Wednesday, October 4, to strengthen partnership in matters of security and justice.

The Minister of Interior, Alfred Gasana, while opening the meeting, at the RNP General Headquarters, said that the two institutions have a lot in common in the field of security and justice.

It was also attended by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Felix Namuhoranye, and RIB Secretary-General, Col (rtd) Jeannot Ruhunga.

The Minister said that the duties of the Police and RIB are complementary, and are among the pillar towards sustainable development.

"Rwandans need security and justice to be able to contribute to the development of their country to the best of their ability.

This requires working diligently and thoughtfully, offering quality services, being innovative and sustaining what has been achieved," Minister Gasana said.

He called for strengthened efforts against crimes such as theft, sexual and domestic violence, and curbing road accidents.

IGP Namuhoranye said that collaboration between RNP and RIB is not an option but a must to ensure safety, security and justice for Rwandans.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Emmanuel Ugirashebuje, while closing the meeting, emphasized that close collaboration between the police and RIB guarantees the best services required by Rwandans.

"We do a lot but we are equally required to do a lot more, and that because of the leadership that has a bigger vision for the people and country," Minister Ugirashebuje said.
