Rwanda National Police hosts dinner for Senior Command and Staff Course students

Rwanda National Police (RNP) hosted a special dinner on Saturday, June 14, for 34 senior police officers, who are completing the 13th intake of the Police Senior Command and Staff Course (PSCSC) at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District.

The Police students from nine African countries will be graduating later this month after a year-long intensive academic programme, which offers a Master's in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation.

The students are from Rwanda, Somalia, the Central African Republic, Malawi, Kenya, Lesotho, South Sudan, Namibia, and Botswana.  Read more...

DIGP Sano briefs Police contingent ahead of deployment to Central African Republic

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, (CP) Vincent Sano, on Monday, June 9, briefed 140 officers of Rwanda Protection Support Unit (PSU) set to be deployed to the Central African Republic (CAR) for a one-year peacekeeping mission.

The contingent, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) James Karasi, stationed in the capital, Bangui, under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

The PSU is largely charged with providing security for high profile national and international officials, including the Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly, senior justice officials, and the head of the MINUSCA Police Component.  Read more... 

PEACEKEEPING: Rwandan police officers return home after successful UN mission in Central African Republic

A contingent of 140 Rwandan police officers returned home on Tuesday, June 10, after completing a one-year peacekeeping mission under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

The officers, part of Rwanda Protection Support Unit One—ninth rotation (RWAPSU1-9), were welcomed at Kigali International Airport by Commissioner of Police (CP) Yahya Kamunuga, Commissioner for Peace Support Operations, on behalf of the Rwanda National Police (RNP) leadership. The returning contingent under the command of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ildephonse Rutagambwa was replaced by RWAPSU1-10, which departed earlier the same day under the command of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) James Karasi. Read more... 

Junior Command and Staff Course trainees explore Rwanda's history and leadership lessons

A group of 45 police officers attending the Police Junior Command and Staff Course (PJCSC) at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District, on Thursday, June 12, completed a two-day field study designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical leadership experiences.

The junior officers of the 12th intake, drawn from multiple security institutions including the Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), and the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), conducted the study tour in two phases.  Read more...

Rwanda National Police (RNP) continued its nationwide Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign by engaging with students at Gihinga Primary School in the Gacurabwenge Sector of Kamonyi District on Tuesday, June 10.
