Minister Busingye urges Police officers to maintain good service delivery

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Johnston Busingye, on Thursday December 3, chaired the 'Police High Council' and emphasized "sacrifice" as a pivotal tool for quality and result-oriented policing services.

The Police High Council held at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru, is the supreme organ of the force that convenes partly to lay out priorities to be undertaken to further professionalize the force in light of the current security trends and evolving policing landscape. Motorists urged to use regional Automobile Inspection Centres

Owners of vehicles and drivers are urged to book for the mechanical inspection of their automobiles at the nearest inspection centres, which were opened in different provinces.

Rwanda National Police (RNP), late last month opened three new Automobile Inspection Centres in the Southern Province (Huye town), Northern Province (Musanze town) and Eastern Province (Rwamagana town) to further improve and extend related services closer to the people as well as decongest the overbooked and overloaded Kigali Automobile Inspection Centres. Man arrested with forged documents, stamps for 47 institutions

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Tuesday, December 1, paraded to the media a man suspected to have been issuing forged documents.

Albert Rwabukwisi arrested in City of Kigali, was also found in possession of forged stamps for at least 47 public and private institutions.

He was arrested alongside two other people identified as Fardjallah Ndagano Kazimbaya and Ismail Kalisa, who allegedly connived to produce a forged driver’s license. Read more


Police, MTN partner to raise awareness on COVID-19 and road safety

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and MTN-Rwanda have joined efforts to raise awareness and educate the general public on COVID-19 prevention measures and safer road usage under the campaign dubbed “Rwanya COVID-Gerayo Amahoro.”

The month-long partnership was disclosed this Monday, November 30, during a live talkshow—Waramutse Rwanda (Good Morning Rwanda)—on Rwanda Television.Read more


Over 50 officers complete UN course at Police Training School

Fifty-seven Police officers, on Friday, December 4, completed UN courses at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.

At least 43 of them completed the 'pre-deployment training for Formed Police Unit (FPU). These are commanders, who will head Formed Police Unit One-Six (FPU1-6) contingent set to be deployed under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) rotation. Fourteen others completed the ‘Introductory Training of Trainers.’

The course was conducted by Rwanda National Police (RNP) in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Read more


Police calls for precautionary measures against fire outbreaks

Rwanda National Police (RNP) called for increased vigilance and precautionary measures against fire outbreaks.

Statistics by the Fire and Rescue Brigade indicates that 79 fire incidents occurred between January and October this year resulting into 15 fatalities with 31 others surviving with serious injuries. Read more


Three suspected Police impersonators arrested

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Saturday, November 5, paraded to journalists three men at the Police metropolitan headquarters in Remera, who were masquerading as Police officers and defrauding unwitting members of the public.

Two of the suspects; Thomas Habanabakize, 36, and one only identified as Mugenama, 31, were arrested in Gicumbi District, where they were guising as "Police commanders."

Another suspect identified as Bonifance Nzabirinda was arrested in City of Kigali for alleged masquerading as a traffic Police officer and defrauding people promising to give them a driver's license. Read more


Three arrested for destroying gazetted forest

Three people were arrested on Thursday, December 3, in Huye District for allegedly destroying a protected forest located in Tumba Sector.

The forest is under the conservation of the University of Rwanda, Huye Campus.

Those arrested are Bernard Twahirwa, 49, Alexis Nshimiyimana, 26, and Paul Ntayomba, 42. Read more
