20 Police officers complete 'Coast Guard Functions' course

Twenty Police officers, on Tuesday, November 14, completed a four-week Police marine 'Coast Guard Functions' course conducted in Lake Kivu in Rubavu District.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, presided over the pass-out of the first intake of the basic course facilitated by Coast Guard experts from Italy.Read more

The Gerayo Amahoro road safety education was on Wednesday, November 15, extended to over 5000 students in various schools in the Eastern Province.

The practical road safety awareness enlightened the schoolchildren on safer ways to cross the road; look left-right-and-left again before crossing, using a zebra crossing, and the meaning of different road signs.Read more

Narcotics, illicit drinks destroyed in Kigali

Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, including 43kgs and 14,403 pellets of cannabis, rolls of heroin and cocaine were disposed of at Nduba landfill in Gasabo District, on Wednesday, November 15.

These are some of illicit drugs seized from dealers, who were arrested in separate operations conducted in City of Kigali.

Other substances destroyed include over 625 litres of kanyanga, a crude gin, 3,069 litres of locally produced illicit brew, quantities of hazardous products such as fertilizers that were being used to distill illicit drinks; and 100 jerrycans of substandard cooking oil.Read more

Mass Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign in Eastern Province

On Monday, November 13, Rwanda National Police (RNP) rolled out mass Gerayo Amahoro campaign in the Eastern Province as part of the ongoing national awareness to make road safety a culture.

Police officers engaged over 6,800 road users in different districts of the region on proper use of the road, meaning of road signs, and human behaviours that contribute to fatal accidents.

Those sensitized include students, pedestrians, taxi-moto operators and cyclists, who were urged abide by traffic rules and regulations, including zebra crossing, to avoid using a phone when crossing the road, driving or riding; to respect speed limits and intoxication.Read more
