Rwanda, Botswana Police forces sign cooperation pact

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Botswana Police Service (BPS) signed a cooperation agreement in Kigali on Monday, January 23, to formalize partnership in various areas of policing to combat transnational organized crimes.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza and the Acting Commissioner for Botswana Police Service, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Phemelo Ramakorwane.

This was part of the bilateral meeting between the two friendly police institutions held at the RNP General Headquarters at Kacyiru. Read more

RNP, Kent State University sign cooperation agreement

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Kent State University in USA signed a memorandum of understanding to partner in areas of education and research.

The partnership was formalized on Thursday, January 26, at the RNP General Headquarters at Kacyiru between the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza and Marcello Fantoni, Kent State University Vice President for Global Education.

The RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera, said that the agreement lays out partnership mainly to develop academic and cultural interchange through mutual assistance in areas of education and research; development of programmes and academic exchange.Read more


Preparations for EAPCCO Games in high gear

Officials from the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) member states met in Kigali since Tuesday, January 24, to put final touches in preparations for the 4th edition of the EAPCCO Games. Rwanda will host the 4th edition in March, this year. 

The EAPCCO is a regional law enforcement body bringing together 14 member countries. It was founded in 1998 as a regional practical response to the need to join police effort against transnational and organized crime.

Sports is one of the disciplines devised by member states to bring together regional law enforcement agencies towards a common goal.Read more

RNP, FERWAFA in joint 'Gerayo Amahoro' campaign

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) re-launched a joint partnership in Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign, on Saturday, January 28.

Under this framework, Gerayo Amahoro messages will be disseminated in the course of different football tournaments, including Peace Cup and Primus National League, and other competitions organized by FERWAFA.Read more

Police officers donate blood

Over 100 Police officers in Kigali, on Friday, January 27, donated blood to support the national blood bank.

The voluntary human security donation held at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters at Kacyiru, was presided over by National Center for Blood Transfusion (NCBT). Read more

Counter Terrorism Training Centre donate health insurance to disadvantaged families

Counter Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) Mayange in Bugesera District, on Wednesday, January 25, donated health insurance coverage for 101 disadvantaged families of Mayange Sector, Kagenge Cell.

The donation, which covers medical insurance premiums for 226 family members, was officially handed over by the Commandant of the CTTC, Commissioner of Police (CP) Emmanuel Butera, to the mayor of Bugesera, Richard Mutabazi. Read more

Police warns against mechanical inspection violations

There is a new trend of owners of vehicles and drivers, who attempt to violate the automobile inspection regulations.

This week alone, four people have been arrested at Remera Automobile Inspection Centre (AIC) in Gasabo District and at the Mobile Test Lane in Gikondo, Kicukiro District as they tried to cheat the fuel emission test.

All of them had removed air filters from their vehicles so as to beat the gas emission test, having failed a number of previous inspections. Read more

KAMONYI: Police foils counterfeit money scam

A man suspected of either counterfeiting or circulating fake currency notes, was arrested on Thursday January 26, in Kamonyi District.

Salatiel Nizeyimana, 27, a trader in Runda, could not succeed in executing his plan after the Police arrested him outside one of the bank branches in Ruyenzi Cell, Runda Sector, with counterfeit dollar bills amounting to US$2550 (over Frw2.7 million). Read more
