Police Volleyball Club won the 2023 CAVB Zone V Club Championship men's category, in an epic performance by beating Uganda's Sport-S in the finals played on Sunday, November 19, at BK Arena.

The fired-up law enforcers picked up from the 25-23 loss of the first set to put up a thrilling act claiming three straight sets (25-14, 25-21, 25-17).

The finals were also attended by the Deputy Inspector General (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza. The gold medalists also received a cheque of USD3000.

Police VC booked their ticket to the finals after eliminating APR in 3-0 straight sets (25-23, 25-21 and 25-20), in the semifinals as they looked to revenge the 3-2 loss to Sport-S in the group stages.

It was a fun-filled showdown as Rwandans rallied behind Police VC, which also swept four of the six awards of the tournament.

Prosper Ntanteteri was awarded as the MVP of the tournament as well as Best Setter; Makuta was voted Best Saver, Olivier Ntagengwa as Best Receiver while Shyaka was the Best Blocker of the showpiece.

It is another regional trophy that Police VC has claimed this year, adding to the 2023 Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) they won in August in Kampala, Uganda; and EAPCCO trophy in March.

The law enforcers also won the 19th edition of Rutsindura Memorial Tournament, in June and Kirehe Open in September.
