[PHOTOS]: Football: Police beat Gasogi to go second

A goal in either side guided Police Football Club to a 2-0 victory over Gasogi United on Day 19 of Rwanda Premier League played at Nyamirambo stadium on Friday.

Osée Iyabivuze and Justin Mico scored the goals to guide the law enforcers to second place on the log.

Iyabivuze was set by Nshuti Dominique Savio to open the score in the 35th minute.

Savio picked a poor back pass from Gasogi defence to set for his co-winger Iyabivuze on the right; he made no mistake.

Despite Gasogi's first-half dominance, it wasn't enough to break the net as on a number of occasions they were denied by Police stopper to take the match into the break with a 1-0 lead.

It should have been a double lead few seconds into the second period but Iyabivuze squandered the chance.

Isae Isonga, who was substituted deep in the second half, also failed to convert the opportunity few minutes later through a ball given to him by striker Justin Mico, with only the keeper to beat.

Mico doubled the score in the 80th minute after both the centre referee and linesman failed to award what seemed as a goal at first.

Issah Bigirimana's thunderbolt hit the post and it seemed like it had crossed the line before Gasogi goalkeeper tapped it back into play to leave both the referee and linesman looking at each other waiting for who will award the goal.

However, Mico made their decision easy after he smashed the ball back into the net to make it 2-0.

The win, their 11th of the season, took Police into the second place with 40 points, two behind table leaders APR.
