Law enforcement officers complete 'Police Tactical Command' course

Forty-four junior law enforcement officers, on Friday, August 1, completed a five-month Police Tactical Command Course at the Police Training School (PTS) iGishari in Rwamagana District.

The cohort, intake 16, include officers from Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) and Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB).

Presiding over the ceremony, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in Charge of Administration and Personnel, DCG Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, underscored the course's significance in developing capable and ethical police leadership.

“The Police Tactical Command Course is specifically designed to shape the tactical and operational competence of our junior officers, preparing them for roles that demand sound decision-making, effective team coordination, and the execution of policing tasks in dynamic and often complex environments,” DIGP Ujeneza said.

At this level of command, she said, officers are expected to translate strategic intent into concrete actions—frequently under pressure and in demanding situations.

DIGP Ujeneza further emphasized that the training was not limited to field tactics but also included leadership development, ethical conduct, and accountability.

“Tactical command goes beyond operational execution. It entails leading by example, maintaining discipline, upholding ethical standards, and safeguarding public trust, as you are mostly the one dealing with citizens.”

“Never forget that command is a responsibility—not a privilege. Your decisions must always reflect the core values of integrity, service, and protection,” she added.
