There have been cases of drivers, who are stopped by traffic police officers for delayed clearance of traffic offence fines.
In some cases, owners of automobiles are not aware of the traffic violations especially when the breach is detected by the traffic cameras on road. In some circumstances, some people do not receive messages of traffic offence committed.
In such cases, those in question tend to petition Rwanda National Police (RNP).
"There are two ways to check the traffic status of your automobile; through the RNP website (www.police.gov.rw) or by dialling *127# on your mobile phone and follow the prompts," RNP spokesperson, CP John Bosco Kabera, said

When you log on the website, you go to the 'Servive' webpage, click on traffic fines, enter your plate and TIN number.
"For vehicles with foreign plate numbers, the procedure is the same. However, the option in blue colour of ?foreign and other vehicles? was left for them because TIN number is not required," CP Kabera added.
With the use of the USSD, dial *127#, select Traffic Fines and send. On the next step, you will be required to fill in your automobile plate number before you receive the full traffic report of your vehicle or motorcycle.
CP Kabera encouraged owners of vehicles and motorcycles to utilize use these online procedures to avoid delays in clearing fines which leads to late charges.
"This process also helps you to always be updated on the status of your automobile in as far as traffic offences are concerned, if the vehicle or motorcycle is in the hands of your driver or another person."
