The Inspector General of Police (IGP) CG Felix Namuhoranye, on Wednesday , April 17, attended the official closing of the Field Training Exercise (FTX) for Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) law enforcement agencies held at Tanzania Police School Moshi, Kilimanjaro.

The three-day FTX code-named "Usalama Pamoja" was held under the theme: "Enhancing EAPCCO's readiness in responding to terrorism and transnational organized crimes."

Six countries took part in the training. These are Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, South Sudan and Ethiopia

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs for Tanzania, Daniel Sillo, while closing the training, said that this is a forum to address security gaps within law enforcement organs and to strengthen cooperation and collaboration against emerging security threats in the region.

"Let us complement each other rather than competing with each other to address the raising acts of transnational organized crimes," Hon. Sillo said.

EAPCCO, the regional 14-member bloc, was established in 1998 to harmonize, strengthen police cooperation and joint strategies, share crime related information and harmonize laws in order to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies to combat transnational organized crime.
