35 Police officers trained on Fire and safety awareness

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB) has trained 35 staff of Rutsiro District Police Unit on fire safety in Kivumu sector of Rutsiro district.

The one-day onjob training, which was conducted on Sunday, October 24, at DPU Rutsiro Headquarters, was part of the RNP initiatives to equip different units and departments with separate aspects in Policing including basic skills against fire emergencies.

Trainees were equipped with basic skills to handle and fight the fire escalation including Types and causes of fire, Skills in Fire Prevention, Fire Prevention measures and Firefighting by using different extinguishers.

While closing the training, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Viateur Ntiyamira, the District Police Commander (DPC) for Rutsiro urged the trainees to use the skills equipped in successfully accomplishing their duties.



?The skills furnished by the training are tremendous to our Policing duties. You are required to keep remembering and applying them in your daily tasks to be more successful in accomplishing your mission as provided by the Rwandan Constitution,? said CIP Ntiyamira.

One of the trainees, SGT Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana said that they got more skills from the training and thanked the Police leadership for the organization of the training.

?We have learnt many lessons which equipped us with new skills and knowledge which will enable us to successfully conduct our duties. We thank our leadership for the organization of this training and we pledge it would be realized at least in every two months and extended to other Police units,? Said SGT Uwizeyimana.

The session was the second round of the training conducted by the staff of Rutsiro District Police unit. The first one was conducted on October 10, by another group of 36 Police officers.
