Kabgayi, 5 October 2013
President Kagame has asked Rwandans to harness the strength God has given to them to achieve their goals, motivated by lessons taught to them by history.
While speaking at the ceremony to mark Kabgayi Seminary’s 100 years of existence in Kabgayi today, President Kagame said Rwandans cannot escape their own history, but can build on the good and learn from their mistakes:
“This seminary has a prominent place in our history. You must learn from your past mistakes made here at this Seminary...it is by learning that we can build a brighter future. History has taught us that we must do all we can to work hard to transform our nation and God has given us all the strength that we need to achieve our goals and it is up to us to put it to the right use. What the seminary is offering is essential for Rwanda's progress. A good education makes everything else fall into place.”
President Kagame pledged support to enable the seminary continue providing education to the young generation, especially the society’s poor.
The Bishop of Kabgayi Diocese, Smaragde Mbonyintege said the Seminary is committed to partner with the Government to promote education as a major contributor to the development of Rwanda. The celebrations to mark 100 years since establishment of Kabgayi Seminary included a cross generational procession by alumni since inception to the current class, and testimonies by their representatives.
