Zimbabwe Deputy Police Chief visit NPC

The visiting delegation from Zimbabwe Republic Police headed by Deputy Commissioner General, Elliot Mind Ngirandi, visited the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District on Tuesday.

At NPC, the delegation was given an overview of the College, its professional and academic courses and partnership with other local and international academic and policing institutions in developing knowledge and skills of Police officers from across the continent.

Among the professional courses offered at NPC include Police Senior Command and Staff Course—Strategic Leadership Program offered with Bramshill; Junior Command and Staff Course—designed for operational commanders; and Tactical Command Course—designed for tactical commanders.

Academic courses include Masters in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation, Bachelor of Professional Police Studies, Bachelor of Law and Criminology, Bachelor of Information Security and Bachelor of Forensic Sciences.

“Students are selected based on both academic and professional experiences with the aim of professionalizing law enforcement agencies in Rwanda and beyond,” the acting College Commandant, Commissioner of Police (CP) Faustin Ntirushwa, said.

DCG Ngirandi said that such African police institutions should tap the varied skills offered by its schools.

"This is a wonderful school with very high standards," DCG Ngirandi said.

NPC is one of the three RNP schools, which the delegation will visit. Others are the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District and Counter Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) Mayange in Bugesera District.

Their four-day visit is aimed at strengthening cooperation and sharing experience and expertise in varied policing disciplines.
