Youth vow strong participation in crime prevention

Members of the Rwanda Youth  Volunteers in Crime prevention Organisation  (RYVCPO) have pledged to increase their contribution to peace and security by urging their fellows to desist from lives of crime and also foster collaboration with Police through the provision of useful information.

They made the pledge on Sunday during a tour of the Liberation War Museum in Mulindi, which honors brave RPF soldiers that stopped the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The director of the organisation,  Jean Bosco Mutangana, said during the tour that all youth in the country must show their patriotism through acts that preserve the peace which Rwandan liberated fought for.

"Rwandans have worked together to ensure that the country has lasting peace and security, which has provided a conducive environment for prosperity and development," he said.

"Therefore as the future of Rwanda, let us all be vigilant in abiding by the law and use our strength to develop our nation."

He said that whereas some youth had chosen a life of crime and abusing drugs, many other youth decided to live a constructive life and they will sensitive their fellows and help them out of the wrong life they are leading.

In December last year, about 300 members of RYVCPO enrolled in a nine days training workshop on how to combat crime at the National Police College in Musanze District.

During the course, they covered lessons in; information sharing systems, gender based violence, road accident prevention, among others.
