The Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP) human security activities launched last week, continued yesterday in Nyamasheke and Ngororero districts where the youth engaged in various community development activities.
In Nyamasheke, the youth constructed a house of a single mother in Gitwa of Bushenge Sector.
The mother of two was abandoned by her husband, and she was being sheltered by neighbours.
“My husband left me in March this year, and few days later, I was chased from the house we were renting. I had to look for shelter from my one neighbor to another since I had no money to buy even rent one for myself,” said Mukahirwa.
Mukahirwa, who couldn’t hide her happiness after getting this house, said she was amazed by the fact that, though she lived in misery, but that there was some people out there who were concerned about her life.
“I thank President Paul Kagame for teaching these youth the values of patriotism and partnership to support the poor people,” she said.
In Ngororero, the youth in partnership with Police and public prepared at least 10 hectares of agroforestry land in Muhanda Sector where trees will be planted.
