Members of Educations for Nations Africa Girubuntu (ENAGI) have committed to reinforce community policing efforts against crimes.
The youthful group of over 150 members made the commitment on Thursday during their visit to Rwanda National Police (RNP) headquarters in Kacyiru.
ENAGI is composed of students in higher institutions of learning and secondary school as well as graduates.
Chryseis Ineza Inshuti, the secretary general of ENAGI said that the group was formed to front the national development agenda.
"We focus mainly on the young people sensitising them on national values of patriotism and participating in community development activities, and security plays a major part in that, that's why we have taken a step further to partner with our Police in community policing activities," Ineza said.
Meanwhile, the leadership of ENAGI also started training on community policing, yesterday.
The training is aimed at enlightening them on the concept of proactive policing.
While opening the training, the RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera, thanked them for partnering with Police to sensitise the youth against lawlessness.
"One of your main ways of fighting crimes is being the eyes and ears of your neighbours and community, and sharing information on any criminal or suspicious acts," CP Kabera told the youth.
"You're an added strength to policing and crime prevention in creating a crime-free society," he added.
The training focuses on how the youth contribute in fighting against crimes like corruption, drug and human trafficking, gender-based violence and child abuse.
