Young African innovators learn about Rwanda's public safety model at Rwanda National Police

A group of 165 students from nine African countries, accompanied by their teachers and parents, on Friday, July 10, visited the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru as part of the ongoing Pan-African Innovation Bootcamp organized by Coderina EdTech.

The educational visit was organized to give the young innovators firsthand experience of Rwanda's achievements in public service, innovation, resilience, nation-building, and public safety.

The Pan-African Innovation Bootcamp, taking place from July 1–12 at Ntare Louisenlund School in Bugesera District, brings together outstanding students and educators from across the continent for collaborative learning, innovation, and leadership development.

The delegation was received by the RNP spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga, Commissioner for Public Relations and Media (PRM), who briefed the participants on the mandate and core responsibilities of the Rwanda National Police.

Participants also witnessed practical demonstrations of traffic management equipment, firefighting tools, emergency response procedures, rescue operations, and the integration of technology in public safety and policing.

Welcoming the visitors, ACP Rutikanga thanked them for choosing to visit Rwanda and the Rwanda National Police.

He emphasized that Rwanda's security achievements are the result of visionary leadership, effective policing, and the active participation of citizens.

"Security in Rwanda is everyone's responsibility. Our citizens understand that peace and security are the foundation of sustainable development. The partnership between the community, the Police, and government leadership has been instrumental in making Rwanda one of the safest countries in Africa," ACP Rutikanga said.

He added that the Rwanda National Police continues to invest in modern technology to improve the efficiency and quality of its services, including road traffic management, driver testing and licensing, vehicle inspection, and community policing initiatives.

Speaking on behalf of Coderina EdTech, Country Manager Ndekezi Ange Gabriella thanked the Rwanda National Police for hosting the delegation and providing participants with valuable insights into Rwanda's public safety systems and transformation journey.

"The Pan-African Innovation Bootcamp was established to help young Africans appreciate that building the future begins with understanding the journeys that have shaped our nations."

"By bringing together students from across Africa to learn from Rwanda's history, leadership, innovation, and resilience, we are nurturing a generation that values unity, collaboration, and shared solutions to the continent's challenges," Gabriella said.

She noted that the visit gave participants a deeper appreciation of the role public institutions play in creating safe environments that foster innovation, development, and sustainable progress across Africa.
