World Bank officials visit Rwanda National Police

The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana, on Friday, received at his office in Kacyiru, officials from the World Bank.

The team headed by Miriam Schneidman, a senior health specialist, had visited Rwanda National Police to witness how the force has managed to fight against gender-based violence.

The officials were explained on the strategies in place to fight and prevent gender violence such us the introduction of a toll-free line – 3512 – the establishment of Isange One-stop centre to provide free medical and legal support to GBV victims and laws that punish offenders.

The World Bank is among the partners, especially in the fight against gender violence.

Schneidman commended the RNP for taking an upper hand to fight the vice.
The team also visited a site where an Africa centre against GBV – (AFSOCCA-VAWG – will be constructed.
