Mobile Station Police reaches out to Rulindo residents
The Mobile Station Police Vehicle continued its mission of reaching out to residents. On Thursday, over 40 residents from Rulindo presented their complaints and reports to Police through the service, making it now a total of four missions and over 200 residents that the vehicle has so far served since the service was launched last month.
Through the Mobile Station Police vehicle, officers comb remote villages looking for residents who wish to lodge cases but are limited by the distance between them and the police stations and other public institutions.
Police returns Rwf17m to Congolese buyer of smuggled car
After impounding a car that had been smuggled from the UK, RNP successfully returned US$ 25,000 (Rwf17.2m) to a Congolese citizen identified as Bisimwa Richard Biadunia, who had unknowingly bought the car from three suspects.
luxurious Range Rover is believed to have been stolen by a Burundian suspect who conned the Congolese into buying it.
Togolese officials seek lessons from Isange One Stop Centre
Isange One Stop Centre continues to attract the attention of individuals and organizations from various parts of the World due to its quality services it offers to victims of Gender Based Violence and child abuse.
Two officials from the government of Togo visited the RNP gender based violence medical wing – Isange One-Stop centre – from which they sought lessons to help set up a similar model of their own in the West African country.
Police intensifies fight against public procurement crimes
In a bid to improve the efficiency and skills of RNP officers, continuous training is paramount – and it is in this framework that RNP geared up efforts to monitor public procurement processes, identify risks and investigate malpractices in a bid to foster transparency and accountability.
The training on Thursday was conducted in partnership with Rwanda Public Procurement Authority, which provided trainers, to 20 officers operating in the Criminal Investigation Department.
Police arrest three with fake money, Rwf1.3 million
Police continued to shield the economy against malpractices. Through its investigations into the recent spate of fake Rwandan currencies in circulation especially in the City of Kigali, Police successfully unearthed a ring of criminals and arrested three men suspected to be behind the manufacture of fake money.
Police managed to seize fake money amounting to Rwf1.3 million, during which, it called on the public to be vigilant and watchful against those who may want to infiltrate the economy with counterfeit currency.
Two women arrested for trafficking cocaine worth Rwf 702 Million
On Friday, Police intercepted drug dealers and arrested three people at Kigali International Airport with about 13.5 kilogrammes of cocaine estimated at a value of Rwf702 million.
Among them included were 2 Rwandan women who held Belgian passports and a man believed to be a husband to one of the women.
The cocaine was concealed in coffee sachets, indicating the ever changing ways through which drugs traffickers use to smuggle these substances. Police has been vigilant in averting all these tactics to ensure that Rwanda is neither a destination nor a transit for illicit drugs.
