[PHOTOS]: IGP Munyuza in Italy for bilateral visit
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza is in Italy for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Carabinieri—the Italian Police.
On Monday, IGP Munyuza held bilateral talks with his Italian counterpart, Commander General of Carabinieri, Gen. C. A Giovanni Nistri, in Rome.
IGP Munyuza described the existing partnership between RNP and Carabinieri as “healthy” adding that the “need to strengthen cooperation increases day by day as demand for keeping peace increases.”
In 2017, RNP and Carabinieri signed a cooperation pact that focuses mainly of training; counter-terrorism, public order management, traffic and road safety, peace support operations, aviation security, border security, and cybercrime investigations, among others. Read More
Police reassure security during Kwibuka period
Rwanda National Police (RNP) has called on the general public to observe peace and security during the 25th commemoration period of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
The Commemoration Week starts this Sunday April 7, as Rwandans and friends of Rwanda across the globe pay tribute to over one million innocent lives massacred 25 years ago, in just one hundred days.
RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said, as accustomed, Rwandans are once again urged to "report anyone or anything that can affect peaceful commemoration activities." Read more
[PHOTOS]: RNP, HPR sign MoU on road safety
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of administration and personnel DCG Juvenal Marizamunda has said Rwanda National Police (RNP) strongly values partnerships in maintaining security and safety of the public.
He said RNP cannot register much success if it did not enlist the collaboration of other stakeholders both private and public actors.
DIGP Marizamunda made the remarks yesterday at a function to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU), between RNP and health People Rwanda (HPR), aimed at among others reduce road accidents.

[PHOTOS]: University of Rwanda law students hold study tour at RNP
A team of students from the college of arts and social sciences (UR-CASS), school of law, yesterday made a study tour to Rwanda National Police(RNP).
The students according to Dr. Denis Bikesha, the dean of school were at the police headquarters as part of the routine academic requirement to study and understand, "policing the post-genocide society".
The students were joined by their colleagues from eight countries across the globe on the study excursion.
Speaking to the student delegation, Commissioner of Police (CP) Bruce Munyambo, the commissioner for community policing, narrated the policing journey after the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis, challenges faced and strategies set-up to overcome them.

Neighborhood Watch: Residents rescues toddler from pit
Residents of Kinyandaro Village, Gasiza Cell in Busasamana Sector, Rubavu District came to the rescue on Tuesday when they saved the life of a newborn baby from a pit latrine.
The toddler had been thrown in the pit by the mother right after birth, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Innocent Gasasira, the Police spokesperson for the Western region, said.
“On Tuesday at about 2pm, Police in Busasamana received a phone call from residents of Kinyandaro Village reporting a woman, who had given birth and threw the baby in the nearby pit,” CIP Gasasira said. Read More
