We should jealously guard our nation – Governor Gatabazi tells Musanze residents

The Governor of the Northern Province, Jean Marie Vianney Gatabazi said that Rwanda attributes much of its achievements to security and pointed out that if the security spirit is maintained, the country is able to achieve even a lot more.

He, however, said that for that there is need for everyone to play a significant role in ensuring security and safety.

The Governor made the remarks recently while address a security meeting in Cyuve Sector of Musanze District where he also hailed residents for their continued cooperation with security organs.

“Previously, this region was marred with several incidents of insecurity but this is no longer the story; it is a very secure area that is even attracting most of the country’s tourists. This is mainly due to your role in ensuring we make it secure,” the Governor told residents.

He further noted that security is important if sustainable development is to be achieved.

“Security is essential and without which there cannot be any development,” he noted.

Governor Gatabazi urged the youth to engage themselves in developmental activities that could earn them a good living rather than involving themselves into activities that could threaten security like drug trafficking and abuse.

He also put much emphasis in preventing unwanted pregnancies among young adults and called on local leaders to work closely with parents in ensuring that the issue is addressed appropriately.

The District Police Commander of Musanze, Supt. Aphrodis Gashumba also asked residents for the vibrant collaboration with the police precisely by sharing timely information on anything that could hinder public safety.

SP Gashumba also condemned polygamy practices that are common, which also fuel domestic conflicts.
