In Gicumbi and Kirehe districts, where RNP handed over 282 solar energy system, clean water sources and improved sanitation, beneficiaries recounted their joy to the good leadership that put forward the social wellbeing of the citizens.

Gicumbi

Bonifance Kimonyo, 97.

For the very first time in my life, I have slept in a house with solar energy. I never thought I would see this day. Thank you President Paul Kagame for saving our country.

Ruth Uzamukunda, 42.

It is hard to express the happiness I have with my family. My six children are full of joy. They have been saved from candles. One of my daughters is a candidate and in the previous exams she scored 76 percent. I can only imagine her excelling further because she has all light. Our President saved us from malaria when he gave us mosquito nets, gave us heifer; now he has given us solar and saved us from eating in darkness. We can only pray for him to live longer.

Ruth Mukansanga, 58.

We are very happy… I am very happy. My children have been saved from candles. President Kagame gave us a cow and we kicked kwashiorkor out of our home. Today, we have also kicked darkness out of our house.

These are fruits of good leadership.

Lamech Kinyata. 39.

I have four children. Our life has changed because of the clean water and solar home systems that our government and Police have given us. About 600 people in this village had one clean water source, which also had one tap. People would line up for hours. With these new four water sources and multiple taps, it will save time for other development activities. Children will now have more time for their studies both at home and school.

Belancille Yankurige, 47.

The only reward I can give our police is to report drug dealers and criminals in general. My dream has come true because I have solar energy.

Samuel Ndabakeka, 42.

This is another new day in my family. I was buying a candle for each of my four children everyday to revise and do their homework. These candles have smoke which was also hazardous to my children. Well, that’s no more now.
