Usengimana inspires Police FC in comfortable win over Muhanga

Striker Danny Usengimana scored a hat-trick to help Police overcome AS Muhanga in an entertaining game that ended 1-5 at Muhanga Stadium on November 4.

Police now sits on top of the Azam Rwanda Premier League with 19 points from nine games while second placed AS Kigali has 18 points and one game in-hand.

Police’s defender Fabrice Twagizimana broke the deadlock in the 29th minute with a beautiful header, while Usengimana opened his account in the 40th minute with a brilliant strike.

The first half score was settled at 3-0 after Isaie Songa nodded home from close range.

In the second half, Muhanga converted a penalty to pull back in the game, but Usengimana scored two more goals to end the final score at 5-1.

Man of the match Usengimana said after the match that the score was a collective effort of the team, pointing out that more tough games are ahead.

“There are so many good teams, as you can see, AS Kigali is playing very well, so we have to be focused and ensure that we play each game as a final. This is a strong league and we will give our best to compete for this title,” he said.
