Unstoppable Police Handball Club thrash UR-CE to end first round in high spirit

National handball league reigning champions, Police found no obstacle to set a champion tone, when they faced UR-College of Education on the evening of Wednesday June 17 in their game-in-hand played at Kimisagara Youth Centre, which climaxed the end of the league first round.

Unstoppable Gilbert Mutuyimana and Jean Baptist scored ten times each as Police winded their first half league campaign with a convincing 48-21 goals against College of Education.

Police now sits on the summit of the log with 30 maximum points, three ahead of second placed APR.

Police coach Assistant Inspector of Police, Antoine Ntabanganyimana, praised his players for putting a thrilling match and importantly putting into action all learned tactics.

“We were ahead in points, both in the first and second half. The players did not lose focus from the start to the end...we deserved to win,” said AIP Ntabanganyimana.

He further said that his side is currently preparing for the second round set to resume in three weeks time.

AIP Ntabanganyimana noted that, the good performance displayed by the team in the first round will be built upon to further excel even in the 'Great African' tournament slated for September this year in Tunisia.
