‘Unit’ course starts at Police Training School

A total of 559 Police officers, on May 6, started a four-month ‘Unit Training’ course at the Police Training School in Gishari, Rwamagana District as the force continues to capacitate officers with various policing techniques to effectively deal with the modern policing challenges.
 
The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana presided over the official launch of the course, the first of its kind.
 
Present was also the DIGP in charge of Operations, Dan Munyuza and DIGP Stanley Nsabimana of Administration and Personnel.
 
“Criminals take advantage of the modern technology to conduct their criminal acts, which requires Police and other security organs to always be ahead of them,” the IGP said.
 
He said this course is part of the Rwanda National Police strategies to capacitate officers to address such challenges effectively.
 
“Rwanda is developing faster and sustainable growth and security are inseparable and a professional Police force always increases its officers' knowledge and skills through training,” he added.
 
He appealed to course participants to make good use of the exercise to acquire more knowledge and skills that would enable them fulfill their assignments efficiently.
 
He explained that such training enhance discipline, professionalism and promotion.
 
The officers will, among others, acquire more skills in leadership, command and management.
