Two stolen motorcycles recovered, suspects arrested

Police are holding, since November 26, three men on suspicion of stealing two motorcycles in Gicumbi and Kicukiro districts.

Haruna Sindayigaya, a resident of Gicumbi was caught re-handed with a motorcycle registration number RC 779Z, which was reportedly stolen recently.

Two other suspects; Jean Bosco Rafiki and Jean Claude Ntirenganya were apprehended in Kicukiro while trying to sell a motorcycle registration number TVS 942, belonging to one Mboneye Niyonshuti, which was also stolen recently.

Supt. Emmanuel Hitayezu, the central region Police spokesperson, said the arrest of Rafiki and Ntirenganye followed investigations after the victim filed a theft case.

He said the duo was arrested in Kamashashi Cell of Nyarugunga Sector.

Meanwhile, in Gicumbi, the Northern region Police spokesperson Inspector of Police (IP) Innocent Gasasira said Sindayigaya is currently detained at Kageyo police station.

“We followed the lead based on information from the people, and Sindayigaya was arrested with the motorcycle at a mounted roadblock in Gihembe Cell, Kageyo sector,” said IP Gasasira.

The regional spokespersons thanked the good cooperation and timely information sharing with the people, which facilitate police investigations, recovering stolen items and arresting wanted suspects.
