Police in Bugesera district intercepted a vehicle full of smuggled crates of Amstel beer from Burundi.

The vehicle was seized in Nyamata sector on July 8 enroute to Kigali.

Two people said to be owners of the smuggled alcoholic drink. They are currently detained at Nyamata Police station.

The District Police Commander, Superintendent Victor Vandama warned against such illegal acts.

"These are acts that affect the economy by evading taxes and can even bring fake products into market, which we can't accept," Supt. Vandama warned.
