Three Rwandan Police Officers complete Master’s studies at Kent State University

Three officers from the Rwanda National Police (RNP) on Thursday, May 7, graduated from Kent State University in the United States of America (USA) after completing advanced degree programmes, marking another milestone in the force’s efforts to strengthen professional capacity.

Inspector of Police (IP) Solange Iragena and Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Gloria Uwimbabazi graduated with Master of Science in Computer Science specializing in Computer Security, while Inspector of Police (IP) Louis Ntwali earned a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MS-AI).

The advanced programmes equipped the officers with practical and research-driven expertise to support innovation in cybersecurity operations, data-driven policing, and the application of emerging technologies in law enforcement.

Their academic accomplishments also align with the RNP's broader vision of enhancing technological capacity in critical fields such as cybersecurity, digital forensics, machine learning, and intelligent systems—areas that are increasingly essential to modern policing and national security.

Currently, five other RNP officers are pursuing advanced studies at the university, including two enrolled in PhD and three undertaking Master’s degree programmes.

The RNP and Kent State University formalized their partnership in 2023 to promote academic and cultural exchange through mutual cooperation in education and research, as well as the development of academic programmes and exchange initiatives.
