Rwanda National Police conducted successful operations across the country that led to the arrest of three suspected drug dealers and the seizure of drugs and illicit brew.

One operation in Ngoma District, a suspect identified as Idelphonse Bizimana, 31, was on 2,Janary, 215 arrested by the District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO), when he was found in possession of 40 liters of Kanyanga – a locally banned brew that is harmful to the health of its consumers.

Another suspect, Jean Sibomana, 43 was arrested in Rubavu District wit 431 pellets of cannabis, while on the same day, the third suspect identified as Sylvain Bicamumaka, 28 was arrested in Kayonza District with 20 liters of Kanyanga.

The operations were successful due to community policing mechanisms where residents in those areas shared timely information about the suspects’ activities to Police.

Police conducted numerous anti drugs campaigns across the country last year, as well as partnered with several institutions to overcome the challenge.
