It is obvious that differences arise between family members and people in general but the way they are handled determines their effects.
Some people instead of solving their wrangles amicably or seek justice through organs concerned take justice into their own hands which sometimes results into injuries and at times loss of lives.
Taking justice into your own hands is to do something illegal in order to punish someone because you know that the law will not punish that person or thinking that since that person did something illegal, the law doesn’t apply to you when you punish this person.
Rwanda National Police (RNP) therefore appeals to those having conflicts to abstain from taking justice into their hands instead approach organs for apt solution.
The appeal follows an assault incident in Kirehe District on November 1 where Augustin Uwiragiye, 23, allegedly assaulted, using a machete, his young brother, Vincent Mugenzi.
The heartless act which happened in Musongati cell of Nyarusange sector is said to have resulted from property dispute. The victim was taken to Kirehe Hospital for treatment.
The suspect is held at Kirehe Police station as investigations continue.
“There is possibility that wrangles arise between people but local administration, counseling agents and security organs, among others, are there to assist those having wrangles. To this, there is no point for one to end in prison because of acting inappropriately,” the Eastern Province Police Spokesperson, Inspector of Police Emmanuel Kayigi, said.
He urged the residents to desist self justice instead approach organs concerned for assistance.
