Police in Rubavu District has recovered a vehicle that was stolen in the area recently.

The Toyota Carina car type, registration number RAC 542N was stolen from a garage, last week, where the owner had taken it for mechanical repair.

It was recovered on December 12 in Kigara cell of Nyamyumba sector where suspected thieves had hidden it.

Police Spokesperson for the Western region, Supt. Emmanuel Hitayezu said, three people suspected to be in connection to this theft were apprehended.

“They were picked at the bar in the area where the car was also recovered, and they are currently detained at Gisenyi Police station but investigations are still ongoing to arrest all those connected to this criminal ring,” Supt. Hitayezu said.

He identified the suspects as Evariste Maniriho, 32, Vincent Ndagijimana and Emmanuel Bucyana, 25.

He advised car owners to install monitors in their automobiles and rush to report in case of theft, so that they are recovered in time.
