Police in Nyarugenge District have recovered assorted equipment including electronics and other interior items stolen from a Chinese national home in Rwezamenyo Sector.
The recovered items include a flat television screen and its accessories, a gas cooker and still camera among others.
Police spokesperson for the City of Kigali, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Emmanuel Hitayezu, said: "The Chinese national filed a complaint claiming that several household items were stolen from their house, we immediately started investigations. He suspected his houseboy identified as Bosco Uwiragiye as the brain behind the theft.”
"Indeed, the stolen items were recovered from Uwiragiye along with his accomplices identified as Theophile Munyaneza alias Kirenge and Jean de Dieu Habimana, who were also taken into custody," he added.
“We have since handed over the recovered items to the rightful owner. When a crime is committed, it is always advisable to report to Police immediately. This helps in timely response in investigations, recovery of stolen items and arrest of suspects," he advised.
Article 300 of the penal code provides a prison sentence of between six months and two years, and a fine of two to five times the value of what was stolen.
