Stern warning against murder as three are arrested over teens death

Rwanda National Police appeals to the general community to strengthen their cooperation with security organs to prevent and apprehend evil-minded individuals in their localities and to foil their evil plans like murder.

Three men have so far been arrested in connection with the murder of three teenage girls in Nyarwungo cell, Nkomane sector of Nyamagabe district on Sunday following credible information provided by eyewitnesses.

The suspects were arrested the same day in Kinyonzwe cell, Mutuntu sector of Karongi District where they allegedly fled to after committing the inhuman act.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects attacked the teens, who include three girls and a boy, all aged below 12 years, as they were looking after livestock, killing all the girls on spot and seriously injuring the boy.

The boy was rushed to Mugonero hospital, where he is under intensive care.

The suspects are held at Gasaka Police Station in Nyamagabe as investigation continues to ascertain the reason behind the bloody act.

The Southern Region Spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Hubert Gashagaza condemned the inhuman act.

He thanked the public for providing credible information that led to the apprehension of the trio.

He added that there is still need for the community to take an upper hand to identify and know new individuals in their communities and be an eye to neighbors, a thing that will help to foil such planned evil acts.

“Even the death of one person is a great loss to the country. All Rwandans should act responsibly to report any security threats. Together, such criminal acts can be prevented,” CSP Gashagaza said.

He also challenged the general population to report families that could be embroiled in domestic wrangles to be able to help them solve their differences amicably, before they turn violent.

“In case of misunderstanding, people should not take justice into their own hands; they should instead lodge their complaints to concerned authorities,” he advised.
