Six suspected drug dealers were arrested in Sunday in separate police operations conducted in Musanze and Burera district.
One of the major drug dealers identified as Chantal Mukasine was arrested with Blue Sky, an illicit gin packed in banned plastic bags, concealed in thirteen sacks.
According to the Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Hamdun Twizeyimana, the Police spokesperson for the Northern region, said that 13 sacks of contrabands were recovered from Mukasine’s house located in Rwebeya Cell, Cyuve Sector in Musanze.
“Mukasine had four employees she was using in the distribution of the contrabands, who are among those arrested during the operation,” CIP Twizeyimana said.
He identified Mukasine’s accomplices as Louise Mushimiyimana, Violette Uwineza, Albertine Umuhoza and Josephine Uwimana.
“Another motorcycle registration number RC 892Q was also intercepted in Ruhengeri Cell of Muhoza Sector also in Musanze loaded with 25 dozens Chief Waragi and six cartons of Chase Vodka. Although the rider managed to escape, we know his particulars and he will be arrested,” he added.
In Burera, one Cyprien Ndabigira was arrested in Bukwashuri of Kivuye Sector with 150 of Blue Sky, 90 dozens of Chief Waragi, 25 cartons of Chase Vodka and kanyanga.
CIP Twizeyimana warned that similar operations will continue and thanked the general public for their continued cooperation and information sharing on suspected drug dealers, which attributed to successful operations.
