Senior Command and Staff course students on countrywide study tour

Police officers from regional countries attending the Senior Command and Staff course at the National Police College in Musanze District have started a countrywide tour of public and private institutions as part of their external studies.

Twenty eight senior officers from nine regional countries are attending the course which started last year.

The countries are Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Swaziland and the host Rwanda.

The course offers Master’s in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation and combines strategic command and leadership component, Police Routine and Operation Staff Work

On the first day of their external study tour on July 7, the officers visited Rwanda Governance Board, Ministry of East African Community, National Unity and Reconciliation Commission and The Rwanda National Police anti gender-based violence medical wing - Isange One Stop Centre.

Prof. Anastase Shyaka, Chief Executive Officer of RGB briefed the officers on the roles of the institution especially in ensuring good governance.

"Police officers play a big role in peace building and conflict management which is a pillar to good governance," Prof. Shyaka observed.

Shyaka said that there can’t be security without good governance
