Senegalese leader hails Isange One Stop Center

Senegal's Gender Resource Centre Coordinator, Fatou Diop, has hailed Isange One Stop Center as an international role model for other countries that seek to be successful in fighting gender based violence and child abuse.

Diop made the remarks during his visit of the center and during his meeting at Rwanda National Police Headquarters in Kacyiru, where She was received by Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Butera, Commissioner for Operations.

"Every country in Africa should witness how it is possible to be successful in the fight against the inequality faced by women and children. The Isange One Stop Center offers a unique example of a place that offers everything that is needed in the fight against this scourge that has rampaged throughout the world," he said.

Set up in July 2009 by Rwanda government and  UNICEF, the Isange One Stop Centre – which means feel welcome in Kinyarwanda - provides free services for survivors of child domestic abuse and gender-based violence (GBV).

The centre also operates a free phone hotline for help, protection from further violence, investigation of crimes, medical and psychosocial care and support and collection of forensic evidence.
