Second batch of officers complete ‘Basic Tactics’ training

The second cohort of 25 Police officers from different units concluded a ‘Basic Police Tactics and Methods’ training today which aimed at making them more efficient while performing their duties.

This five-day training begun on Monday, November 17, at the National Police Headquarters in Kacyiru and was conducted by Germany trainers, covering lessons including criminal proceedings, science of evidence, complaint file keeping, first response in crime investigations, digital evidence, Police interrogation and practical exercise of police interrogation among others.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda, who presided over the official closing of the course, said the training was made possible as a result of a strong and mutual partnership between RNP and German government.

“Our efforts are always geared towards strengthening the capacity of our personnel with a view to effectively and efficiently combat national and transnational organized crimes and to ensure a safer community” DIGP Marizamunda said.

“I have no doubt the skills, Knowledge and experience professionally imparted to our police officers will be useful in their investigative capabilities.”

Frank Willecke, a German facilitator and head of the training team hailed the continuous partnership between RNP and Germany Police and said such skills and knowledge are a necessity for participants especially in their daily investigative work.

He also said similar courses are planned for next year.

Police Constable Marceline Kambayire, a trainee, said that sufficient professional skills, attitudes and knowledge concerning transnational crimes are a necessity for officers to carry out efficient investigations.

She promised to use the gained knowledge and skills to perform the her tasks and investigations professionally.
