School head teachers undergo crime prevention training

Over 360 secondary, primary School Head Teachers and Sector Education Officers, in Gatsibo District are undergoing three day training on crime prevention.

The training which started on July 29, at the District office will cover key issues such as, the role of public in crime prevention, conflict management, national values, and patriotism among others.

Inspector of Police, Canisius Rutikanga, one of the facilitator noted that such trainings help a great deal in crime prevention since participants will have realized the need to share crime related information.

“We are teaching them to embrace national values and most importantly be characterized by a spirit of nationalism. “You cannot be considered patriotic without partnering security organs particularly in matters concerning crime prevention”. “said IP Rutikanga observing that such training is very key to mobilize citizens into participation to national security.

Viateur Nshimiyimana, the Gorora primary school head teacher lauded organizers of the training saying the lectures delivered to them will help them to have ownership in issues particularly crime prevention.

The training was organized by the District authority in partnership with Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) who provided facilitators as well as those from National Civic Education.
