Rwanda National Police volleyball club advance to CAVB quarterfinals

Rwanda National Police Volleyball Club (Police VC) secured a place in the quarterfinals of the 47th African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Men’s Club Championship with a dominant 3-0 victory over Nigeria Customs VC on Wednesday, April 29, at BK Arena in Kigali.

The Rwandan Police side delivered a convincing performance in straight sets (25–21, 25–16, 25–21), showing strong control from start to finish. Their solid attacks and good teamwork made it difficult for the Nigeria Customs VC to respond.

Police VC’s success was driven by a strong attacking display, spearheaded by Kenyan Makuto Eliphase and Eric Kwizera, both of whom consistently broke through Nigeria Customs’ defense with powerful spikes.

Additional contributions from Ugandan Angiro Gideon and Kenyan Merry Brian strengthened the team’s offense and defensive blocks, allowing the club to maintain control throughout the match.

The team also used smart tactical player rotations, bringing in Sibomana Placide Madson, Shyaka Frank, and Irakoze Alain at key moments to keep the team fresh and maintain their lead from the opening set to the final point.

Police VC finished the group stage unbeaten, topping Group C. They defeated Tanzania Prisons VC (3–0), Faith Union VC (3–1), Ghana Army (3–0), Kenya Ports Union VC (3–2), and Wolaitta VC (3–0).

In the quarterfinals, Police VC is set to face fellow Rwandan side Kepler VC, which advanced after overcoming Kenya’s General Service Unit (GSU VC) with a 3–1 victory.
