Rwanda National Police teams shine at 2026 UAE SWAT Challenge

Rwanda National Police (RNP) SWAT Team One won a bronze medal in the Obstacle Course and secured 484 points to finish sixth overall at the 2026 United Arab Emirates (UAE) SWAT Challenge in Dubai.

The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Challenge, held from February 7–11, featured 109 elite police and military teams from 48 countries competing to test their tactical skills, endurance, and teamwork in high-pressure and mission-based scenarios.

According to the final results, two Kazakh teams claimed first and second place, followed by two Chinese teams in third and fourth. A Thai Police team took fifth, with RNP SWAT Team I finishing in sixth place.

The sixth-place finish marks a significant improvement from the 2025 edition, where RNP SWAT Team I finished in 10th position with 407 points.

RNP SWAT Team II also improved in the 2026 Challenge, finishing 29th overall with 386 points and 14th in the Obstacle Course. In the 2025 edition, the team finished 18th with 357 points.

The steady improvement in rankings on the world stage reflects continued investment in advanced training, physical conditioning, and tactical preparedness.

Rwanda National Police has participated in five of the seven editions of the UAE SWAT Challenge since the competition was launched in 2019.

The competition includes five events simulating real-life operations: tactical missions, rapid assault drills, officer rescue, vertical tower exercises with live fire, and a demanding obstacle course testing endurance and accuracy.

Teams accumulate points across all five events, with penalties imposed for missed shots or procedural errors. Final standings are determined by total cumulative points over the multi-day competition.
