The Rwanda National Police joined the rest of Rwandans and friends of Rwanda in 'Global Umuganda', a monthly community exercise, this time dedicated to the 20th liberation anniversary - Kwibohora20 - observed every July 4.
In Kigali, Police officers attached to the general headquarters cleared bushes and water channels in Kacyiru.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Malizamunda, speaking shortly after the exercise urged the officers to always be active in such home-grown development initiatives.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Elias Mwesigye, the commandant for the General Headquarters also said the role of the force goes beyond ensuring safety and security to protecting infrastructure and environment.
In Kamonyi district, Police officers joined residents of Runda sector to create a water channel.
The exercise in Kamonyi was presided over by the State Minister in Ministry of Local Government Alvera Mukabaramba.
