Senior Rwanda National Police officers met at the force’s headquarters in Kacyiru on Tuesday in an operation meeting, with a call to devise new strategies to prevent road traffic accidents which have increased in the recent past and improve on service delivery.
The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana observed that there is “urgent” need to lay more strategies to prevent road accidents, most of which are caused by over speeding, reckless driving and mechanical faults.
The meeting was attended by heads of departments, Regional Police Commanders (RPCs) and District Police Commanders (DPCs), among others.
The officers were also urged to uphold discipline, integrity, values and norms, which are fundamental to offering eminent services to the community.
During the meeting, heads of departments and units exhibited policing activities in their respective areas of operations, achievements particularly in road safety, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), equipment handling and the fight against corruption.
