Rwanda National Police, KOICA sign cooperation pact

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) and the Korea International Agency (KOICA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in various policing fields.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday between the Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana and Mr. Kim Sang-Chul, KOICA Resident Representative, in an event held at the police headquarters in Kacyiru.

The partnership will mainly focus on training police officers in specific domains such as engineering, road safety, technical and vocational training and public order management.

Other areas include Information Technology (IT) and agriculture.

IGP Gasana commended the good partnership with KOICA.

IGP Gasana said the cooperation between the two institutions will strengthen human security, which is one of the force’s priorities.

Capacitating the force, he added, is the force’s central role to further ensure a crime-free environment for all.

Mr. Kim lauded Rwanda National Police for its significant role in national security and actively taking part in the country’s development.

Mr. Kim observed that RNP has not only excelled in the country, but has also become a role model in the region and beyond.
