The call follows the death of a neglected eleven-year old child in Musanze district was accidentally killed by a cow yesterday.
The child freed the cow from the kraal and tied himself on the rope that was tying the cow. He agitated the cow then it started running and aggressively bruised him on the ground.
The child was hit by stones and died from injuries.
Northern Region Spokesperson, Superintendent (SP) Emmanuel Hitayezu, said parents and guardians should not allow children around livestock.
“It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to protect children from domestic animals.”
SP Hitayezu also advised farmers keep their cattle properly caged.
