The Rwanda National Police joined communities in various parts of the country in a monthly community work, Umuganda where they rehabilitated roads and houses for vulnerable families.
In Kigali, Police officers rehabilitated water channels and cleaned roads in Kacyiru and in and around the force's General headquarters.
In Gatsibo district, Police in partnership with Bank of Kigali staff and the local community renovated four houses for vulnerable families and rehabilitated about 10 kilometres of road.
The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana while speaking to officers in Kigali, shortly after Umuganda, said the force's mission goes beyond ensuring safety of people living in Rwanda and their property.
He appealed to the officers to strengthen efforts in protecting the environment.
The Rwanda National Police also planted over 300 hectares of trees in different parts of the country.
He called for maximum discipline within the force and warned them of all sorts of malpractices like corruption.
Bank of Kigali also donated 21 cattle to vulnerable genocide survivors in Kiziguro and Kiramuruzi Sectors.
The exercise was also attended by the Govenor of Eastern province, Odette Uwamariya and Mr. James Gatera James among others.
