The Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Thursday, February 5, hosted 75 pupils from Ecole Les Hirondelles de Don Bosco Ndera in Gasabo District for an educational study tour to help them learn more about police work in national security.
The Primary three pupils, accompanied by five teachers, visited the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, where they learned about the police’s role in maintaining security through interactive sessions on road safety, community policing, and human security.
The students gained firsthand insight into the operations of various police units, including the Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB) and the Canine Brigade, enhancing their understanding of the role these units play in public safety and security.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Khalid Kabasha, the Commissioner for Cooperation and Protocol, emphasized the importance of such visits in strengthening community relations, particularly with children.

“When young people visit the Police, it gives us a valuable opportunity to educate them, show them what we do, and, most importantly, build strong relationships between the Police and the communities we serve. This trust is the foundation of sustainable security,” he said.
ACP Kabasha further highlighted the long-term impact of engaging both pupils and teachers in community-focused initiatives.
“Teachers interact with many people, and the knowledge they gain becomes something they share widely. When they act as ambassadors in their schools and communities, it creates lasting positive change. Children also learn quickly and share what they learn with their friends, families, and communities,” he added.
Aristide Bizimungu, the school representative, expressed appreciation to the RNP for hosting the pupils and underscored the educational value of the visit.
“This visit is part of our learning experience, helping pupils learn beyond the classroom by visiting important institutions. Through the Rwanda National Police, our pupils have learned about discipline, safety, and service to the country, inspiring them to dream big and grow into responsible citizens of Rwanda.”
