Over 200 primary and secondary school students supported by RW 0622 organization have been called upon to strengthen cooperation in fighting against crimes.
The call was made by Police officers during a meeting held on April 14 at EAR church in Kigabiro sector and partly facilitated by h RW 0622 organisation leaders.
During the meeting, the Rwamagana District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), Inspector of Police (IP) Goreth Uwimana, briefed the students on how to put much emphasis in fighting crimes and its effects likes early pregnancies.
“The youth are mostly affected by social challenges in their families and through cooperating with authorities we can overcome these challenges. Youth should participate in timely information to solve and prevent crimes” she said.
“Fighting and preventing crimes is a shared responsibility, you are the future leaders of our country. It is everyone’s key responsibility to play a role in fighting against any form of crime” she added.
Speaking about human trafficking, the DCLO said; “Girls should invest much effort to desist from people who may offer to provide them with jobs and education in foreign countries. Their intentions are to expose you to commercial sexual purposes and slavery."
With regards to drug abuse, IP Uwimana told the youthful gathering that; "You must always remember that effects of drug abuse leads to addiction that makes one unable to competently perform their duties. It is in your advantage to fight them, report abusers and concentrate on your education”.
Speaking at the meeting, the representative of RW 0622 organization, Ben Rutamu told the student that; Use the opportunities you have to express commitment in crime prevention and be people of integrity in your communities."
