Rwanda National Police (RNP) has donated dancing costumes to Inyamibwa, a traditional dancing troupe of Bweyeye Sector in Rusizi District.
The troupe with 60 members, use traditional dance as, partly, their source of income, and entertains mainly tourists.
While handing over the traditional dancing costumes on Wednesday, the Western Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (CP) Rogers Rutikanga called upon residents to embrace the prevailing peace and security by working to economic progress.
He said that security should be utilized by investing into businesses so as to “ripe returns of peace.”
The RPC applauded the entertainment troupe for their roles, saying that it is one of the best ways to promote Rwandan culture around the world. He said the donation is meant to encourage them to improve their service to visitors, their wellbeing and the community around them.
“One of the strongest pillars of Rwandan culture is the traditional dance, because music and dance have always been essential in informing and educating our society,” said CP Rutikanga.
CP Rutikanga urged them to maintain security by sharing information with law enforcers of any suspected wrongdoers.
Emmanuel Habimana, the executive secretary of Bweyeye Sector thanked the RNP leadership for promoting culture, tourism and supporting community development.
The beneficiaries also thanked RNP for supporting them and recommitted to use their talent to raise awareness against crimes
